Health insurance in Thailand: your free quote

Anyone living in Thailand should have health insurance, and some long-stay visas require proof of it. Solutions Thailand doesn't sell policies. Tell us who needs cover and what matters to you: we compare plans from local and international insurers and email you a full quote within a couple of days.

Frequently asked questions

  • Some do, including the O-A retirement visa applied for from abroad and the Long-Term Resident (LTR) visa. Requirements change, so we check the current rule for your visa before you buy.

  • Usually not. Travel policies cover trips, not living here, and often don't meet visa requirements.

  • So our advice is about what you need, not about a product. You choose and buy the policy yourself.

  • No. Insurance advice and medical tourism planning happen online, so you can sort your cover before you move.

Costs and cover

  • Our base service fee is THB 19,500. It covers the complete health insurance service, from comparing plans to an active, properly set-up policy. Your premium is paid separately to the insurer.

  • Many insurers set a maximum age for new policies, and choices narrow as you get older, so it is worth arranging cover early. We compare what is available for your age and explain any limits before you apply.

  • Often not, or only after a waiting period, depending on the insurer and the plan. We explain exactly what each plan does and does not cover before you choose.

  • It depends on where you want to be treated and how much you travel. Thai plans are often cheaper and widely accepted for visas, while international plans usually cover you in more countries. We compare both for your situation.

Hospitals and treatment

  • Yes. Thailand has excellent private hospitals. We help you choose the right one for your needs, arrange appointments and explain your options before you go.

  • Yes. Our patient assistance service helps with translation and coordination when you or a family member needs care, and keeps relatives overseas informed. It is quoted according to what you need.

  • Yes. Our medical tourism assistance helps you find reputable hospitals, understand pricing and arrange consultations for dental work, health screenings or specialist treatment. Longer treatment may need a Medical Treatment Visa.

  • Yes. Our health insurance service includes guidance through renewals and claims, so you are not left to deal with the insurer alone.
