FAQ

Got questions about living, working, or relocating to Thailand?

You're not alone. From visa options and timelines to company registration and everyday expat life, navigating Thailand's systems can feel overwhelming without the right information.

We've put together answers to the questions we hear most often: honest, straightforward, and based on real experience helping clients from all over the world make their move to Thailand.

If your question isn't covered here, we're always happy to help directly.

1. How much do your services cost?

We get it, you want a number. But this field is full of variables, and anyone who gives you a fixed price without understanding your situation first is either ignoring what makes your case unique or leaving potential savings on the table.

Our fees vary depending on the service and your circumstances. Visa services start from 14,500 THB (our standard base fee) and we don't typically work with clients for less than that. Company registration packages start from 150,000 THB, and local support services are priced based on duration and complexity.

What we won't do is throw a number at you just to move the conversation forward; that's not honest, and it's not how we work.

Book a free consultation and we'll walk you through exactly what your situation looks like, with full transparency on costs from the start. No hidden fees, no surprises

2. How long does a visa application take?

Honestly, it depends. Every visa type has its own process, and every embassy operates on its own timeline. Giving you a fixed number without knowing your visa type, your nationality, and which embassy you'll be applying through wouldn't be accurate; and we'd rather be honest with you than set an expectation we can't control.

What we can tell you is that our team starts working on your case from the moment you're onboarded, preparing everything as your documents come in so that when we're ready to submit, we're ready immediately. The embassy timeline is outside our hands, but everything leading up to it isn't.

3. Can I apply for a Thai visa while already in Thailand?

In most cases, no; and it makes sense when you think about it. Applying for a visa is essentially asking Thailand for permission to enter the country under specific conditions. That process happens before you arrive, not after; so Thailand can review your case first before letting you in.

There are rare exceptions depending on the visa type, which we'll walk you through based on your situation.

4. What's the difference between the DTV Remote Worker and the DTV Soft Power?

Both are the same visa (the Destination Thailand Visa) with the same 5-year validity and 180 days per entry. The difference is in the qualifying activity. The Remote Worker category is for people employed by a company registered outside Thailand who will be working remotely from here. The Soft Power category is for people enrolling in an approved Thai cultural activity: such as Muay Thai or a cooking school. Same visa, same benefits, different entry route depending on your situation.

5. Do you guarantee visa approvals?

No and anyone who tells you they can is not being honest with you. No agency or consultant can guarantee an embassy decision. What we do guarantee is a genuinely prepared, thorough, and compliant application. A properly prepared case gives you the strongest possible chance of approval.

6. What visa do I need to work legally in Thailand?

To work legally in Thailand you need both a Non-B visa and a separate Work Permit. The Non-B visa allows you to enter Thailand for work purposes, and the Work Permit (issued by the Ministry of Labour) is what actually authorises you to work. You need both.

One important thing to understand: you need to have your job or company sponsorship in place first. The Non-B visa is tied to a specific employer, which means you can't apply for it without one: the process doesn't work the other way around. Once your sponsorship is confirmed, we handle everything from there.

7. Do you help with finding a job in Thailand?

No, job placement is not a service we offer. Our role is to make sure that once you have a job offer or employment arrangement in place, everything is set up correctly from a visa and legal compliance perspective. If you need a work permit, company registration, or guidance on working legally in Thailand, that's exactly where we come in.

8. Do I need to come to your office or is everything done remotely?

Everything we do is fully remote. From your initial consultation to document submission and ongoing support, our entire process is designed to work online — wherever you are in the world. We've chosen not to have a physical office so we can assist clients both in and outside of Samui without any limitations. That said, if you're in Samui and would like to meet in person, we're always happy to arrange that on request.

9. What documents do I need to get started?

That depends entirely on your situation, and that's exactly why we assess your circumstances first before recommending a visa category. Once we've established which visa is right for you and you've got started with us, we'll provide a tailored document checklist specific to your case.

It's also worth knowing that immigration regulations in Thailand change regularly. As we receive updates from embassies and authorities, the required documents can shift; so we may come back to you during the process if something changes. That's completely normal and part of how we make sure your application is always built on the most current requirements.

10. Can you help with more than just visas?

Absolutely. Visas are a core part of what we do, but Solutions Thailand is a full-service expat consultancy. We also assist with company registration, financial services and accounting, health insurance and medical coordination, property rentals and management, and local support services like translation, government office assistance, and airport coordination. Whatever you need to live and operate in Thailand, we're here to help.
